Learning to fly...

Thus spoke Zarathustra:

---------

"He who wants to learn to fly one day
must first learn to stand and to walk and to run
and to climb and to dance--you cannot learn to fly by flying!"

---------

"Summit and abyss--they are now united in one!...
Whence arise the highest mountains? I once asked.
Then I learned that they arise from the sea.
This testimony is written into their stones and into the sides of their summits.
The highest must arise to its heights from the deepest."

---------

"'Bestowing virtue'--that is the name Zarathustra once gave the unnameable."

I like the link here to the unnamable. You think maybe Beckett stole this from old Fred?

and old Fred from?

we have this concept of first walking and then flying... in mysticism... and sufism.... the mystic should start from everyday life... the very mundane and usual deeds...

lotus is the best example of arising from deepest to the highest...

and you know... artists dream in two ways -- personally and collectively...

and these dreams overlap...
this is not stealing...

thieves and stealing have got some SIGNS... know what they are?

Derliwall... great choice for 'learning to fly'

i love... no... no... i live in walking... i mean real walking... which is so close to its metaphor... perhaps in my life i have walked more than i have slept... and you cannot imagine what i've found...

and just a few months ago i came across what Nietzsche said about walking (real walking)... same thing i believe in... go and find the quote
;)

and...
we walk alone on our path... but our path is not alone... it is haunted by spirits...

thus believeth the crow...
:)

hb- here's the link magic:

type this:
the word(s) here will be the blue link word you click on

when you publish your comment the only thing that should show is the words between the ><'s.

I hope this works

Harlequin...

I wonder here though if Beckett would believe that he was bestowing virtue, or even if the unnamable narrator of this text would claim to be doing so... and from what I'm starting to get from Zarathustra is that I shoudln't believe too much of what he says anyways... sounds like there's a common thread... tricksters they seem to be... poets and tellers of tales... spinning webs...

HB...

"theives and stealing have got some signs"

they craft words and stories???

telling the same stories again???

the tricksters?

maybe hermes?
maybe foust?
maybe prospero?
maybe zarathustra?

all the magicians?
the ones who use metaphor?

maybe me?
maybe crows?

Jon, i meant real thieves... literal stealing...

one of the signs is that they set bridges on fire after passing...

human being said...

in the metaphoric sense of the word... yes we are all thieves...
